Information Zone Index & Introduction
A lawyer has three primary roles. First, to give information about the law, practice and procedure, rights, entitlements, duties and responsibilities and the traditionally perceived notions of fairness and justice. Secondly, to apply that information by advising the client in the particular circumstances of the client’s affairs, the case, the dispute and other circumstances. Thirdly, to represent, assert and defend the client’s best interests based on the information and the advice.
A website cannot undertake the second or third roles, at least on the present state of family law in England and Wales.
Here at the International Family Law Group LLP we believe strongly in making freely available and easily accessible information about the law, its practice and procedures, and how it may affect individuals. The extensive information on our Information pages is part of our philosophy of opening up the law through the Web.
We have been very privileged to be involved in some leading cases, be members of organisations at the heart of English and international family law and in law reform and have extensively considered what should be fairness and justice under the law. With privilege comes responsibility. We seek to share this knowledge and information through these web pages.
These pages only contain information. They do not contain any advice. They should not be relied on. Personal legal advice should always be taken, sometimes urgently.
