The International Family Law Group (iFLG) and legal technologists at Settify are delighted to have been nominated for 'Innovation of the Year' at this year’s LexisNexis Family Law Awards. The nomination is in recognition for the collaborative design and successful launch of Europe’s first artificially intelligent family Law client intake system.
The online system uses Artificial Intelligence to help firms to interact with new Family law clients in real time. It can be accessed on a smart phone, tablet or computer right from the iFLG website, or by invitation, and clients receive free personalised, helpful information, and prepare a full brief of instructions for their lawyers. Those instructions are synthesised into an easy-to-read brief, an editable asset schedule, spreadsheet, and chronology.
Settify’s underlying technology was conceived in Australia in 2017. English and Australian dual qualified iFLG partner David Hodson OBE discovered the system and reached out to founder Max Paterson. The system needed to be translated to incorporate the law and procedure of England and Wales and the specific needs of this market. iFLG partners Stuart Clark and Michael Allum undertook this techno-legal task with Paterson.
Since launching in the UK with iFLG in October 2018, Settify has been adopted by over 30 firms across the country and has assisted with over 2,000 client matters to date.
David Hodson says of the collaboration with Settify:
“I am certain that digital innovations are the way forward for family justice systems in this country and around the world. I have been delighted at iFLG to work with like-minded creative and entrepreneurial lawyers keen to explore any opportunities to provide a better service for clients through innovation and enterprise. The way we practice family law in perhaps even five years’ time may be almost unrecognisable from the non-digital previous ways of working.”
The Family Law Awards will be held on Wednesday 27 November 2019 at The Ballroom, South Bank, London.
